The idea to start SmartCycleŽ didn't come to us in a flash. It sort of built itself slowly. I'd come back from a bike ride wondering why so many recyclable plastic bottles were littering the side of the road. Or I'd toss some garbage in a street container and noticed there were quite a few in there, too.

But seeing as how I work in the packaging business I pulled together a group of people and companies with similar concerns. We decided maybe we could figure out a solution. If we could create a marketable use for what turns out to be billions of pounds of recyclable plastic bottles, perhaps more of them would actually get recycled. So after a lot of coffees, e-mails and late night conference calls, SmartCycleTM was born. Packaging made from recycled plastic bottles. We won't torture you with every single detail, but suffice it to say, the results have us pretty excited. Not only does the process save energy, it spurs collection. We have a lot of enthusiastic interest from retailers and we expect the business to keep growing.
